Wenara Wana - The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary -
Over the long passage of time since Wenara Wana - more commonly known as the Monkey Forest - became open to tourists, it has become one of Ubud's main attractions. As well as offering an unforgettable experience for those visiting the area on leisure, Wenara Wana offers a prime location for international researchers and students at Udayana University to study and observe the monkeys. These primate experts have also been instrumental in helping to preserve and enhance the monkey's habitat.
A visit to Wenara Wana will allow you to get up close and personal with long-tailed macaques, 340 of which live in the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal, in four different troops. These lively characters, along with the stunning temples, make a visit to Wenara Wana a really memorable way to spend time in Bali, offering some fantastic photo opportunities! Find out more on the official Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary website.
